The Dark Truth of Harry Styles and Taylor Swift

If you’re a dedicated Taylor Swift fan like me, you know about all the Easter eggs she leaves about the upcoming projects she’s working on. Every interview, every tweet and every song is just another hint, and after she dropped Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Swifties have theorized that she is going to release 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in June.

Even though I’m incredibly excited to listen to the re-recorded hits, I’m even more excited to hear what Easter eggs will be in the songs “from the vault.” Why? Because there’s a theory that Harry Styles and Taylor Swift committed vehicular manslaughter and it happened right before the release of 1989.

In case you didn’t know, Taylor Swift and Harry Styles dated for about three months in late 2012. They took many trips together and in December of 2012, the couple was in New York. This is when the alleged murder took place. A month later, they would quickly call it quits, and 1989 was released. This is when she started to drop hints about what happened.

Even though it’s been just shy of a decade since 1989 was released, the theory came about when Swift released her ninth studio album, Evermore. Once I heard Swift’s new song, “No Body, No Crime,” I started connecting the dots. As I looked back at Taylor and Harry’s old songs, I started to spot some suspicious lyrics.

In her hit song, “Style,” it didn’t take long for fans to realize it was writing about fellow singer, Harry Styles. Taylor describes going on a late-night drive with “no headlights,” and “He can’t keep his wild eyes on the road.” Sounds like distracted driving to me. Not to mention Swift follows up with “And when we go crashing down, we come back every time” and “just take me home.” Sounds like they crashed into someone and immediately left the crime scene. This is where things get a little messy for Swift and Styles.

In December of 2012, Swift and Styles were reportedly in a snowmobile incident that ended with Harry Styles getting stitches for the injuries he received. I think this whole incident was just a cover-up of the injuries Harry got while hiding the dead body.

In “Out of the Woods” by Taylor Swift, she repeatedly asks, “Are we out of the woods yet?” and “Are we in the clear yet?” I believe this to be Taylor wondering if anyone found out what they did. She also sings about hitting the brakes too soon and getting stitches. I can only assume she is referring to his stitches Harry had to get. If it was just a snowmobile accident, why is she so curious if they are “out of the woods” and “in the clear?”

Clearly, something happened but nothing has ever been explicitly stated, especially by Harry Styles. He was a part of the hit-heartthrob band, One Direction, at the time, so writing songs about murder might have tipped off too many people.

However, Harry released his first solo album in early 2017. In his song, “Woman,” he sings “…Apologies are never gonna fix this, I’m empty I know, and promises are broken like stitches” which is a clear referral to the stitches he had to get after the so-called snowmobile accident. On the same album, the song “Ever Since New York” talks about how different Harry feels since he was in New York. I agree Harry, vehicular manslaughter would leave anyone feeling different.

Then Taylor comes in with her rebuttal in late 2017, when she released the album Reputation. Obviously, a murder would do a lot of damage to a reputation, so it’s quite fitting. In her song “Getaway Car,” she adds even more suspicious lyrics. The song starts with “No, nothing good starts in a getaway car,” and goes on to say, “It was the best of times, worst of crimes.” Personally, I believe murder is the worst of crimes, don’t you? Not to mention you wrote about a car. Not too subtle. Clearly something was up. Not to mention, far too many song titles could be connected to the vehicular manslaughter. “I Did Something Bad,” “Don’t Blame Me,” and “Look What You Made Me Do,” are all phrases I would also use if I murdered someone.

Now the question that’s left is this - Why would they sing songs that the whole world to hear? Personally, I think the guilt was eating Taylor alive. Harry knew he could hide it, but once Taylor was spilling the tea in 1989, he knew he had to say something to respond to her. They both knew it would come out someday, so Taylor is trying to show that she was just a witness and put the blame onto Harry. And we can only assume Harry isn’t singing too much about it since he was the one to commit the murder.

That’s what leads us to “No Body, No Crime” from Taylor’s album Evermore. It starts off by saying “he did it.” Like I just said, she’s putting the blame on Harry. She also sings “no body, no crime but I ain’t lettin’ up until the day I die.” Clearly, both Harry and Taylor hid the body well enough that it would never be found, and they will deny it and keep the secret with them even on their deathbed.

I am waiting for the day that this theory is proven to be true. If the body is ever found and connected to Taylor Swift and Harry Styles, I will 100% believe it. It might sound a little far-fetched, but with the amount of evidence there is, I don’t think it’s too crazy. In the meantime, I’ll be patiently waiting for Taylor to release1989 (Taylor’s Version),praying for a new song called “The Murder (Taylor’s Version).”
